Review: Selena (1997)

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite movies. The movie that I want to talk about is named Selena. Selena is a made-for-tv-movie about a real-life singer named Selena Quintanilla. Selena is a Latina woman who makes it big in the music industry. Selena climbs to the top of the industry with the help of her family. She even falls in love despite her parent’s displeasure with the groom. However, Selena manages to have it all. She has love. She has her music. And she has her success.

However, there’s a rat hidden among her close group of friends and family. And the rat does something un-forgiveable…. something irreparable. Everyone in her circle is affected. No one is left un-scathed.

Selena stars the singer named Jennifer Lopez. Lopez plays Selena Quintanilla. Selena’s husband is played the actor named John Seda. John is Selena husband named Chris Pérez. There is a strong list of actors who play Selena’s family. Selena’s father is named Abraham. The actor Edward James Olmos is Selena’s father. Selena’s sister is named Suzette. She is played by the actress Jackie Guerra. Finally, Selena’s brother is Abie. He is played by Jacob Vargas.

Selena is a great movie because of its heart. It is a movie about a family with good family-values who makes it in the Industry. At its heart it is about a smart, caring, and passionate woman who tries to take the world by storm. Selena tries to move away from her Latin roots into the mainstream American industry.

Does she make it?

Well, there’s only one way to find out.

You should check-out the movie Selena if you haven’t seen it before. It’s a touching and heartfelt film that many people will enjoy watching on a date-night or on a night-in with your family. I give the movie a 5/5 star-rating.

I’ll see you in my next review.
