Review: Slumdog Millionaire (2008)

I want to talk about a hidden-gem that I recently watched on television. The movie is named Slumdog Millionaire. Slumdog Millionaire is unlike any other movie that I’ve seen. Slumdog Millionaire is based in India. The actors in the movie are Indian actors. The movie focuses on the lives of three children who grow up in the slums of Mumbai. Mumbai is a city in India.

The children are named Jamal, Latika, and Salim. Jamal is a poor child living on the streets. He tries to survive in the world with his older brother who is named Salim. One day Jamal and Salim meet a girl from a similar background as them. Her name is Latika. Jamal falls in love as soon as he meets her.

Jamal, Salim, and Latika grow-up. The three young people’s lives are far from perfect. Jamal, Salim, and Latika are separated from each other. Jamal wants nothing more than to find Latika again. He eventually does. But that doesn’t mean that the two can be together. There are many obstacles that the two must overcome.

This movie is a serious movie. The movie shows a world that most people know nothing about. It is the world of the destitute… the world where people live in shacks without running water.

However, the silver-lining in this movie is Jamal and Latika’s love for one another. Jamal never wants to give-up on Latika. He loves her and wants to be with her through it all.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. It showed the viewers a strange and unfamiliar world. And at its heart is a love-story that will make your heart sing.
