Four horror movies and one television show to enjoy this October

It is around that time again. What do I mean? Well, I’m not talking about Christmas. It is the month of October. That means one thing. Halloween is right around the corner. What better way of enjoying this spooky time-of-year than curling-up on your couch with Netflix on your television and a bowl of popcorn beside you?

Horror movies and horror television shows may not be for everyone. However, they can be enjoyable if you watch the right type. Some horror movies are classic and are chilling but are light on the gore. Other horror movies are bit more introspective. You must follow along with the main character in the movie to unearth a mysterious and a spooky past.

Either way now is the time to enjoy these spooky films. Below are a list of horror movies that I think you may enjoy. It is time to grab your loved-one to sit-down-and… well, scream.

  1. Rosemary’s Baby (1968)

Rosemary’s Baby is a cult-class horror movie. The movie stars Mia Farrow as Rosemary. In the movie Rosemary moves into a new penthouse apartment in New York City with her husband. The apartment is cold and lonely. But Rosemary’s neighbors are seemingly welcoming and friendly people. However, there is more to them than meets the eye.

This movie is an older movie that I think many people will still enjoy. It is a creepy type-of-movie. At first you do not know what to expect out of this movie. However, as you keep watching you discover more and more about Rosemary’s strange neighbors… who seem to have a diabolical agenda.

2. The Haunting (1999)

The Haunting is an older movie from the year 1999. The Haunting stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, William Neeson, and Owen Wilson. In this movie a group of strangers come together to take part in a sleep study. They must stay the night at an old mansion that is known as the Hillside mansion. Strange things take place there… and things are not what they seem. The group discovers that the home has a history that is tragic and frightening.

3. American Horror Story (2011 to current)

American Horror Story is a popular horror television show. There are ten seasons of this television show. Each season is a stand alone season. That means that each season has its own storyline and plot that is unlike the following seasons.

American Horror Story began in the year 2011. However, its newest season is still going strong. The newest season is about a writer, his pregnant wife, and the two’s daughter. The family move to a beach town during the colder months. However, they soon learn more about the residents that are near by… and they have to deal with more than they bargained for.

My favorite season of American Horror Story is the third season called American Horror Story: Coven. The third season is about a group of girls who are witches. The girls live in a beautiful southern plantation home where they must learn about witchcraft. The drama, the spells, and the scares are all there.

4. Bad Seed (1956)

Bad Seed is one of my favorite horror movies. It is an older black-and-white movie. Bad Seed is about a mother and her little girl. The mother and her child seem like perfectly normal people. However, everything is not as you see. The little girl, Rhoda, likes to have her way. But how far will she go to get it?

I enjoy this movie even though it is not a typical scary movie. The movie is atmospheric and eerie instead.

If you want to check-out any of these films, then, you should try the Netflix television streaming service. You can choose the option where you can watch streaming movies and also receive one DVD at a time (you have an option to even borrow up-to four movies at a time if you pick this option). This might be a great time to check-out Netflix. October is a great time for a scare.

Besides… everyone knows that you should just ignore that “bump, bump, bump” in the night… right?

  1. October is one of my favorite months. I love the fall colors, the comfy sweaters, and the hot apple cider. I also love watching scary movies. Nice post. Keep-it-up.

  2. I haven’t seen all of these movies. I always like checking-out new films that I haven’t heard of before. I think I will start by checking-out Rosemary’s Baby.

  3. I will definitely check-out Netflix. I have Hulu but I like the idea of being able to borrow an old black-and-white movie on a DVD. Nice post.
